2026 Ocean Salmon Outlook: Why Garibaldi is the Place to Be

At Lewis & Clark Guide Service, we live for the variety the Oregon Coast offers. One of the best parts about fishing out of Garibaldi is our proximity to Cape Falcon. When regulations change or quotas get tight in one zone, we often have the flexibility to head north or stay south of the line to keep you on the fish.
The Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) has released the 2026 guidelines, and for our clients, it’s looking like a banner year for both meat-hauls and trophy Kings.
⚓ The Garibaldi Advantage: Two Zones, One Port
Because we sit right near the boundary line, we track two sets of regulations to maximize your time on the water.
1. South of Cape Falcon (Our Backyard)
Most of our ocean salmon days happen here. This zone is famous for the "Harvest All" finish to the season.
Chinook Season: Open now through October 31.
Summer Coho (Hatchery Only): June 6 – August 23 (47,600 fish quota).
September "Harvest All" (Non-Mark Selective): Starts September 1.
The Big Draw: You can retain any Coho (hatchery or wild) up to the 27,500 quota. This is the ultimate "freezer filler" window!
2. North of Cape Falcon (When the Bite Moves North)
When the schools migrate toward the Columbia, we follow them. This zone offers an early start to the "All Salmon" season.
Season Dates: June 20 – September 30.
The Rule: 2 salmon per day, but only 1 may be a Chinook. All Coho must be fin-clipped.
We don't just stop at salmon. At Lewis & Clark, we’re known for our Combo Adventures. Why settle for one species when you can have a "Pacific Platter"?
Most of our 2026 salmon dates are designed as combo trips. While we’re out trolling for feisty Coho or back-bouncing for heavy-duty Fall Kings, we’re also looking to hit the reefs.
Bottom Fishing: 2026 limits for Rockfish are 4 per person, and 3 Lingcod per person!
Crabbing: We pull pots on most of our ocean trips to add some Dungeness to your haul.
🗓️ Secure Your 2026 Dates
With the 2026 Coho quotas looking strong and the "Harvest All" September expected to be as popular as ever, our calendar is filling up fast. Whether you want to chase the big Kings in the bay or head out into the salt for a triple-threat combo of Salmon, Lingcod, and Crab, now is the time to book.
Are you looking to target the "Harvest All" Coho season in September, or are you ready to hunt for those big trophy Kings during the summer run?
